This move ran from the Mösle Stadium into the city center through Schützenallee, past the 'Old Messplatz' and the old Maria-Hilf-Kirche. In the images of the move, the raised Schwabentor and the cathedral can be clearly seen.

Her costum (Häs) is made of colorful heart-shaped spots and her wooden mask was designed by Franz Spiegelhalter in 1936. Many of the children are also dressed as Indians and cowboys. Die stummen Schwarzweißaufnahmen im 16mm Format mit einer Länge von 45 Sekunden stammen vom Architekten Curt Balke, der ab 1928 sein Familienleben und vor allem seine Tochter, seine Reisen und Ausflüge filmisch dokumentiert hat. Oft ist Curt Balke auch selber vor der Kamera zu sehen, muss also von jemand anderem gefilmt worden sein. Viele seiner Aufnahmen sind von zeithistorischer Bedeutung, wie beispielsweise der Fasnetsumzug durch das zerstörte Freiburg 1949. Seine Filme sind von unschätzbarem Wert, denn sie dokumentieren den Alltag und das Familienleben einer gutbürgerlichen Gesellschaft in der ersten Hälfte des 20. Jahrhunderts.

Erst nach der Einwilligung durch die französische Militärregierung wurde 1947 in Gottenheim wieder Fasnet gefeiert. Dies war wohl der erste Fasnetsumzug mit Darbietungen von Fasnetspielen im Landkreis nach dem Krieg. Im Jahre 1949 nahmen die Gottemer Krutstorze auch am ersten Nachkriegsumzug der Fasnet in Freiburg teil. Dieser Umzug verlief vom Mösle-Stadion in die Innenstadt durch die Schützenallee, vorbei am ‚Alten Messplatz‘ und der alten Maria-Hilf-Kirche. Bei den Aufnahmen vom Umzug sind das erhöhte Schwabentor und das Münster deutlich zu erkennen.

Für die Menschen ist dieser erste Umzug von besonderer Bedeutung. Deutlich erkennt man ein Transparent „Die Ranzengarde Freiburg“, die 1858 gegründet worden war. Nach alter Tradition zieht die Ranzengarde ganz vorne im Umzug durch die Stadt, so auch 1949. Zehn Kriegs- und Notjahre hatten jegliche Aktivität der Ranzengarde untersagt. Viele der Ranzengardisten sind aus dem Krieg nicht mehr heimgekehrt. Als die französische Besatzung zur Fasnet 1949 wieder einen närrischen Aufmarsch erlaubte, waren anstatt der Gewehre nur Regenschirme gestattet. So sieht man die Ranzengarde in den Aufnahmen ‚beschirmt‘ und ohne Maske. 1949 wurden 39 aktiv Mitwirkende verzeichnet. Im Film sind typische Karnevalsuniformen zu erkennen, die im 19. Jahrhundert französische napoleonischen Uniformen karikierten.
 Beim Umzug mit dabei ist die Zunft der Fasnetrufer e.V. Freiburg, die 1934 gegründet worden war. Ihr Häs besteht aus bunten Fleckle in Herzform und ihre Holzmaske wurde 1936 von Franz Spiegelhalter entworfen. Außerdem tragen sie einen Ledergürtel, der das Freiburger Siegel die "freie Burg" zeigt, wie man im Film gut erkennen kann. Es folgen kostümierte Indianer mit Federschmuck. Der Häuptling reitet einen Schimmel. Auch viele der Kinder sind als Indianer und Cowboys verkleidet. Dies Thema wurde durch die Winnetou-Romane von Karl May sehr populär, die sehr hohe Auflagen erzielten und zu einem allgemeinen Interesse an der Indianerkultur in Deutschland führten. Auf einem Wagen fahren die “Hemdglunker“ mit, die ein weißes Nachthemd tragen. Am Umzug teilgenommen, aber im Film nicht zu sehen sind die "Schnogedätscher", die 1934 als "Gartenhagpfuser“ gegründet worden waren und sich 1948 umbenannten. Sie tragen ein grün-gelbes Häs mit einer stilisierten Hand und ihre Holzmaske ist die einzige Halbmaske im alemannischen Raum. Auch die Miau-Zunft war 1949 bei diesem Fasnetumzug dabei. Sie sind zu erkennen durch ihre hölzernen Katzenkopf-Masken. Das Katzenkostüm besteht aus 12 bis 15 Katzenfellen, die zu einer Jacke verarbeitet sind.
 Nach einer halben Minute sind die Ruinen der Freiburger Altstadt um das Münster zu sehen, was ein deutlicher Kontrast zur ausgelassenen Stimmung der Fasnet ist. Die filmische Dokumentation des Fasnet Umzugs 1949 in Freiburg ist von großer historischer Bedeutung und die Aufnahmen sind von unschätzbarem Wert.
